Visual Storytelling

Show before you tell.

Images should drive meaning.

Research suggests reading comprehension improves when readers begin with a summary of the material. By effectively summarizing your message with an image, you not only capture attention, but provide a clearer understanding from the start.

How to get the most out of your images?

Master the Narrative

Crafting a compelling story is essential. It should resonate with your audience’s personal experiences, making it immediately relevant and engaging.

Create Visual Impact

This one’s obvious: If you want to capture attention, you need to stand out. Whether through dynamic design, emotional appeal, or an air of mystery, ensure your visuals are striking and memorable.

Human Connection

While text and icons have their place, human faces—whether photographs or illustrations—naturally attract attention. Expressive characters, in particular, draw the eye and create a stronger connection with the viewer.

Capture a Moment

Highlighting the most dramatic or emotional moments in your story will engage viewers. Effective storytelling also ensures that the context before and after these moments is easily inferred, providing a complete and compelling narrative.

Website Conversion Through Clear Visuals

When the company website struggled to convert leads, we identified that both the imagery and copy were too vague, leaving visitors uncertain about the product’s purpose and use. After engaging with stakeholders, I championed a plan to make the site more straightforward, focusing on showing the product in action rather than relying on abstract visuals. This approach allowed visitors to quickly understand the product and how it benefits them. I created mockups, navigated multiple rounds of revisions, crafted detailed screenshots, and collaborated with the web team to bring the new design to life.

Cost-Effective Storytelling Through Animation

To share authentic customer stories without the expense of a large production team, I explored alternative methods that were both engaging and budget-friendly. For this project, I handled the entire process—from scripting and illustrating to editing—producing an animated video that stood out from traditional corporate marketing media. The animation was not only more fun and engaging but also an effective way to communicate real-life user experiences.

Simplifying Complex Ideas with Illustration

When ideas are abstract, illustrations can make them easier to understand. Paired with strong copy, they become a powerful tool for communication. I have a deep passion for illustration and use it to break down complex concepts into easily digestible visuals. Whether through a single impactful image or a series of images like a comic, I believe in the power of visual storytelling to convey intricate ideas quickly and effectively.
